Little hamlet of ancient origins located a little lower then Abetone, Cutigliano has been seat of the “Capitanato di Montagna” (the government institution of the mountain) and has preserved the aristocratic style befitting to that role. Walking through the historic centre you can sense a particular medieval atmosphere that brings back in time. From Cutigliano start numerous hiking trails that cross some of the most significant localities of the town as Il Melo and Rivoreta. Along the tracks dominates the natures of the mountain: beech and chestnut woods, rivers, rocks and wild creeks.
